Fernley

Established primarily as a ranching and agricultural community in the early 1900s, Fernley offers the best of rural living with big city amenities just 30 minutes away. The friendly town is situated in the eastern foothills of the Virginia Mountain Range, affording beautiful mountain views and outstanding recreational opportunities. Fernley is surrounded by thousands of acres of BLM land that begs to be hiked, biked, ridden and explored. And with its supply of roadside motels, restaurants, gas stations and casinos, Fernley is a great spot to stock up before heading out. Campers, hikers, bikers and explorers will find idyllic sites and miles of trails in the wide open landscape. And at certain times of the year, birdwatchers will enjoy the sight of thousands of migratory birds passing through town. Fernley is ideally situated on one of the nation’s great migratory bird routes. The town is also located at the junction of Interstate 80 and Highway 50, making it the western starting point of "The Loneliest Road in America." Travelers brave enough to make the journey will find all they need in the way of supplies in Fernley.

The friendly community is also conveniently located just minutes to the south of Pyramid Lake, an unusual salt-water lake on the Paiute Indian Reservation that offers fantastic fishing and boating. Lahontan Lake and the Truckee River are also nearby, both great spots for water activities.
